Job Summary

The State Office for Environment (LfU) in Itzehoe, Schleswig-Holstein, is seeking a technical professional to join their Air Hygiene Monitoring department. This role is crucial for maintaining and operating the state's air measurement network, which monitors pollutants like nitrogen oxides, fine dust, and ozone across more than 20 stations. Day-to-day responsibilities include the operation, maintenance, repair, and calibration of complex air measurement devices in accordance with legal requirements. You will work both indoors and outdoors, assist with the technical support of the testing laboratory, and participate in quality assurance activities, including creating QS documents and attending comparative measurements. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering or Environmental Technology, possesses strong German language skills, and is prepared for frequent field assignments and occasional multi-day business trips. Experience with accredited laboratories and specific air measurement standards is highly desirable.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or University of Applied Sciences Diploma (Dipl.-Ing. FH) in a technical field, preferably Electrical Engineering, Physical Technology, Environmental Technology (specializing in Measurement and Information Technology), or comparable fields. Electrotechnical vocational training (desirable).

Experience

  • Professional experience in air measurement devices for ozone, nitrogen oxides, and fine dust (desirable)
  • Working experience in a DAkkS accredited or quality-assured laboratory (desirable)
  • Knowledge of DIN/EN standards for determining air pollutants (desirable)
  • Professional experience in a technical field
