Job Summary
The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) is seeking a Technical Assistant with strong experience in protein production and purification to join their research group focused on organoid-based research. In this role, you will be instrumental in cloning expression constructs, establishing protein purification protocols, and biochemically characterizing proteins. A key part of your day-to-day will involve producing recombinant proteins for functional testing in organoid models. Beyond lab work, you'll manage laboratory supplies and coordinate technical processes. This position offers a chance to work in a cutting-edge international research environment, contributing to the understanding of human organs and diseases through innovative organoid models, with opportunities for professional development in a supportive culture.
Required Skills
Education
Completed training as a Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), or equivalent qualification
Experience
- Practical experience with S2 and S3 organisms
- Experience with molecular cloning methods
- Experience with chromatographic methods for protein purification
- Experience with common protein-related analytical methods for quality assurance
- Experience with infection or transfection of cells and organoids is highly desirable

- Initial contract until December 31, 2027. Full-time position (39 hours/week). Located in Braunschweig, Germany. Willingness to work in a multidisciplinary, international team.
