Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a PhD candidate to join the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne, focusing on the health impacts of environmental stressors. The core research involves investigating the influence of nocturnal aircraft noise and light pollution on the risk of chronic diseases. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and analyzing extensive longitudinal health insurance data, linking it with exposure parameters, and developing statistical models using software like R or SPSS. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary team, aiming to identify causal links, particularly regarding sleep disturbances, and publish findings in international peer-reviewed journals to create scientific evidence for preventive public health measures. Candidates must possess a very good Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline and strong statistical expertise.
Required Skills
Education
Very good university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Epidemiology, Public Health, Medicine, Biostatistics, Environmental Sciences, or related disciplines.
Experience
- In-depth knowledge of quantitative methods and statistics
- Prior knowledge of light pollution, noise exposure, and sleep (desirable)
