Job Summary
This role involves establishing and operating the 'BioTech Incubator' at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design, focusing on experimental, biotechnological design, including fermentation and material cultivation. The Associate will conceptualize and conduct workshops and training sessions on the application of biogenic materials, providing technical and strategic consulting for innovative, bio-based start-up projects. Key responsibilities include ensuring biological and technical safety, facilitating knowledge transfer, and representing the Incubator in external networks. This position is ideal for a professional with a background in biotechnology and design, offering high creative freedom within an interdisciplinary university environment focused on sustainable material innovation and regional bioeconomy development. The contract is fixed-term until June 30, 2028, requiring 20 hours per week.
Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree in a relevant field (Biotechnology or Biodesign)
Experience
- Professional experience in biotechnology, sustainability, material, and technology within a design context
- Founding and/or development experience in interdisciplinary biotechnological projects
- Experience in developing experimental set-ups in a biotechnological context
- Teaching experience in a university/art college context is desirable
