Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated scientist to pursue a PhD while working as a Research Associate at the Botanical Institute and Botanical Garden at Kiel University. The role focuses on scientific tasks related to the organization, preparation, and execution of research and teaching, specifically contributing to botanical and molecular biological research projects. The core research topic involves gaining an improved understanding of the biosynthesis and evolution of Pyrrolizidine Alkaloids in plants. Candidates must hold a Master of Science in Biology with strong academic performance and specialized knowledge in plant biochemistry and molecular biology. Practical experience with enzyme assays of heterologously expressed proteins, metabolite analysis of plant secondary metabolism, and experience with plant tissue culture are highly desirable. The position is part-time (19.35 hours/week), initially limited to three years, and requires strong German and English proficiency.

Experience

  • Professional experience in organizing and conducting research and teaching activities
