Job Summary

This specialized role focuses on ensuring strict adherence to national and international material standards and regulations within the automotive product development lifecycle. The specialist will be responsible for the comprehensive management of material data, primarily involving the creation, review, and approval of IMDS (International Material Data System) material data sheets. Key responsibilities include analyzing material data for legally restricted chemical substances, generating and evaluating vehicle Bills of Materials (BOMs), and proactively managing the acquisition of missing material data from the supply chain. The position requires acting as a primary technical consultant for clients regarding material prohibitions (such as ELV, REACh, and TSCA) and providing expert helpdesk support. Candidates should possess a background in chemistry or materials science, combined with strong analytical, communication, and meticulous documentation skills to drive compliance and continuously improve material documentation processes.

Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Vehicle Construction, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Management, or a solid technical training with corresponding professional experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in materials science, chemistry, or related technical field
  • Practical knowledge of materials, ideally within the automotive industry
  • Initial knowledge of legal substance prohibitions (e.g., ELV, POP, TSCA, REACh)
  • Initial user experience with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) software
