Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated PhD student to join the Institute of Biochemistry at Kiel University, focusing on cutting-edge research into the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating glycosylation within the Golgi apparatus. The successful candidate will investigate the molecular regulation of SPPL3 activity and Golgi enzyme processing using advanced methodologies, including molecular cloning, genome editing, high-resolution imaging, flow cytometry, and proteomics. This DFG-funded project, supervised by Dr. Matthias Voss, offers close mentorship and the chance to contribute significantly to understanding how protease cleavage contributes to Golgi organization and physiological processes like tumor immune evasion. The role requires a strong background in molecular and cell biology, proven ability to work independently in a research lab, and fluent English communication skills, making it ideal for a dedicated scientist seeking advanced academic training in a stimulating environment.
