Job Summary

This is a full-time, permanent professorship (W2) within the Mechanical Engineering department at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, focusing on Electrical System Integration and Sensor Technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and practical instruction in both Bachelor's and Master's programs, covering key topics such as vehicle electronics, electrical engineering fundamentals, microcontroller technology, and sensor technologies. A significant part of the role involves application-oriented research, development, and technology transfer, including leading industrial projects, securing third-party funding, and managing the Sensor Technology Lab. The professor is expected to actively participate in academic self-governance and curriculum development, ensuring the integration of innovative teaching methods like e-learning and research-based learning. This position offers creative freedom in research and development within a dynamic, future-oriented academic environment.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or equivalent) in Engineering Sciences (Vehicle Development, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science) and a relevant PhD/Doctorate.

Experience

  • Relevant and above-average PhD/Doctorate, ideally in the field of the advertised professorship
  • Professional experience and profound knowledge in the development of electrical system components
  • Experience in the acquisition, application, processing, and management of research and development projects
  • Experience in higher education teaching is desirable
