Job Summary

The Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE) in Garching is seeking an Electronics Engineer to support the eXTP (enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission), a leading Chinese X-ray mission. This role involves the development, integration, and testing of spectroscopic Silicon Drift Detectors (SDD) and their associated electronics, which utilize custom ASICs for high-resolution signal processing. Day-to-day tasks include conducting step-by-step commissioning tests of detector PCBs, optimizing existing detector test setups for power supply and data acquisition, and building a dedicated ASIC test station. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and possesses fundamental knowledge of noise-sensitive electronics development, along with experience in analog and digital electronics, scientific test setups, and module testing.
