Job Summary

This part-time, fixed-term Technical Assistant role at the University of Bayreuth supports an EU-funded project within the Soil Physics department. The successful candidate will be responsible for essential laboratory work, including performing general soil physical analyses such as soil texture, hydraulic properties, and transport experiments using the latest methods. A key focus involves operating advanced imaging techniques like microscopy and X-ray computed tomography for soil structure analysis. Day-to-day duties also include supporting students and scientific staff with project-related lab and field tasks, managing laboratory operations, organizing purchasing, and maintaining the chemical database and lab safety protocols. This position requires a background as a Physical-Technical or Chemical-Technical Assistant with relevant professional experience in instrumental analysis and strong technical understanding, offering a flexible and constructive work environment with potential for long-term employment.
