Job Summary
The municipality of Berne is seeking two highly qualified professionals—Civil Engineers, Civil Engineering Technicians, Road Construction Foremen, or Landscape Construction Masters—to take ownership of critical infrastructure projects. This role involves the independent management of renewal and renovation measures across road construction, structural engineering (including bridges and drainage), playgrounds, and street lighting. Key responsibilities include project leadership, coordinating planning participants (including external specialist engineers and authorities), quality assurance of external planning documents (according to HOAI), and managing the tender and awarding processes (VOB, VgV). The successful candidates will also oversee the municipal depot and ensure the economic goals of the municipality are met, contributing to safe and comfortable movement within the community while maintaining modern infrastructure within budget constraints.
Required Skills
Education
Degree in Civil Engineering or comparable qualification (e.g., Civil Engineering Technician, Road Construction Foreman, or Master in Garden and Landscape Construction)
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the new construction and renovation of roads or structural engineering works
- Professional experience in creating tender documents and local site management is desirable
- Qualified knowledge and application experience in construction contract and procurement law (VOB, VgV, UvgO, HOAI)
- Knowledge of municipal structures is desirable
