Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Facility Leader to manage and strategically advance the state-of-the-art Lab-on-a-Chip (LoC) facility at the Max-Planck-Zentrum für Physik und Medizin (MPZPM). This role involves overseeing all daily operations, including planning, budgeting, maintenance, and ensuring the safe and efficient workflow of the cleanroom infrastructure and microfabrication equipment. The leader will mentor scientific and technical staff, train diverse users, and provide expert guidance in microfabrication and microfluidics. A key focus is contributing to innovative methodologies, developing new microstructured materials and LoC technologies, and proposing strategic infrastructure improvements to the MPZPM board. This position is ideal for a professional with proven cleanroom management and leadership skills who wishes to drive cutting-edge interdisciplinary research at the intersection of physics and medicine.
Required Skills
Education
MSc or PhD in Physics, Biophysics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
Experience
- Professional experience in managing laboratories, particularly cleanrooms
- Professional experience in staff supervision and operating microfabrication workflows
- Track record in building or expanding scientific infrastructure
- Expertise in developing microfluidic technologies
