Job Summary

This role involves working as a Research Associate within the innovative 'smartTESS' project, focusing on developing intelligent control systems for industrial energy supply using thermal storage. The core responsibilities include developing and refining both physical and data-driven models for energy systems (Thermal Energy Storage Systems, CSP, Energy Management), and building and training AI-supported forecasting models for weather and electricity prices. The successful candidate will design and implement optimization strategies for Power-to-Heat systems, simulate these strategies, and contribute to integrating models into a comprehensive digital twin. Key qualifications include a Master's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Energy Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering) and experience with programming/simulation environments like Python or MATLAB. This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of energy technology, digitalization, and AI, with potential for further scientific qualification, such as pursuing a doctorate.

Required Skills

Education

Master's or Diploma degree in Energy or Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines

Experience

  • Professional experience in energy modeling, system simulation, and/or optimization of technical processes
  • Experience in applying programming and simulation environments
  • Experience with Machine Learning/AI applications (Advantageous)
