Job Summary
This leadership role involves managing and strategically advancing the Automation and Information Technology department within the Urban Drainage division of Bielefeld's Municipal Environmental Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, integrating, and optimizing automation systems, while simultaneously developing and implementing robust IT security concepts compliant with critical infrastructure standards (KRITIS, NIS2, BSI). Day-to-day tasks include overseeing the secure operation and continuous development of OT and IT infrastructure, managing incident response, and evaluating innovative technologies such as Edge AI and cloud solutions. This position requires strong technical expertise in process control and network technology, proven leadership skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical matters effectively, ensuring the reliable and secure operation of essential public wastewater infrastructure.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (FH Diploma or Bachelor) in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, Control Technology, or a relevant technical field. Alternatively, a completed advanced training as a state-certified technician in a relevant field combined with long-term professional experience equivalent to an engineer's role.
Experience
- Several years of practical experience in the planning, operation, or management of automation technology systems
- Experience in a Critical Infrastructure (KRITIS) environment is ideal
- Experience in leading projects
- Experience in leading and motivating employees
