Job Summary

The City of Geislingen an der Steige is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of Human Resources to lead its HR department, replacing the long-serving incumbent who is retiring. This is a crucial leadership role overseeing personnel matters for approximately 600 city employees. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading, developing, and motivating a team of seven HR staff members, managing recruitment and selection processes, and ensuring compliance with relevant labor, civil service, and collective bargaining laws. The role requires strong leadership skills, expertise in public sector HR law, and experience in personnel administration, ideally within a municipal setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for overall payroll management, coordinating with the Mayor and department heads, and driving the digitalization and organizational development of HR processes. Required Skills

Education

University degree or Bachelor's degree in Public Management, Administration & International Relations, Business Administration (with a focus on Personnel Administration), or comparable qualification (B.A., B.Sc., or LL.B.)

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in Human Resources
  • Experience in municipal/public administration is ideal
  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of relevant legal frameworks (Tariff, Labor, Compensation, and Civil Service Law)
  • Experience in relevant HR IT applications is ideal
