Job Summary

This is a full-time, two-year limited contract position for a Scientific Trainee specializing in Entomology at the Natural History Museum in Potsdam. The role offers active participation in all core functions of a natural history museum, providing a comprehensive professional development opportunity. Day-to-day responsibilities include the scientific processing and digital capture of insect collections, supporting regular collection maintenance, and conducting independent research on a regionally relevant topic integrated into ongoing projects. Furthermore, the trainee will be heavily involved in public outreach, including leading museum educational programs, tours, and events, as well as contributing to the conception, content, and realization of new exhibitions. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Biology with a specialization in Zoology and possess fundamental taxonomic knowledge in Entomology, Malacology, or Ichthyology, along with prior experience managing and caring for zoological collections. This position is ideal for motivated individuals seeking hands-on experience in museum science, research, and public communication.
