Job Summary
This critical role involves acting as a Corrosion Expert within the Federal Company for Radioactive Waste Disposal (BGE), focusing on the development, evaluation, and optimization of repository container concepts for high-level radioactive waste. The expert will independently analyze corrosion processes of container materials, including complex chemical-physical interactions with technical and geotechnical barriers, ensuring long-term safety. Key responsibilities include contributing to research projects on the long-term behavior of container materials, preparing and reviewing technical reports, and communicating research findings externally at national and international conferences. Ideal candidates possess a Master's degree in Chemistry or Materials Science, fundamental knowledge of corrosion processes and electrochemical reaction mechanisms, and proven experience in corrosion characterization testing methods and scientific publishing. Strong analytical skills and fluency in German (C1) and excellent English are essential for success in this highly specialized field.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree (or equivalent Diploma) in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a comparable qualification. Doctorate (PhD) is advantageous.
Experience
- Experience in the application and evaluation of testing methods for corrosion characterization
- Experience in creating refereed scientific publications
- Research experience in corrosion or electrochemistry (advantageous)
- Experience in the modeling and simulation of corrosion processes (advantageous)
- Knowledge of radioactive waste disposal in deep geological formations (advantageous)
