Job Summary
This position offers a dynamic opportunity for a Research Associate to join a junior research group focused on developing sustainable technology and utilization concepts for residual biomass. The successful candidate will independently conduct scientific research, primarily focusing on assessing the real sustainability potential of conversion processes for activated carbons, platform chemicals, and energy carriers from residual biomass using Life Cycle Assessments (LCA). Key responsibilities include analyzing material and energy flows, identifying reference systems, optimizing conversion processes, and disseminating research findings through publications and presentations. This role is ideal for someone passionate about innovative sustainable resource utilization concepts, offering the chance for doctoral studies within a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
Required Skills
Education
University degree (Master's or equivalent) in Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, or a related field with at least good results. Doctoral studies are possible.
Experience
- Professional experience in conducting and evaluating Life Cycle Assessments (LCA)
- Knowledge in the material and/or energetic utilization of biomass
- High interest in researching and developing innovative technology concepts for sustainable utilization of biogenic resources
- Ability to link own research with broader climate and sustainability contexts
- Experience in knowledge transfer and inter- or transdisciplinary collaboration (advantageous)
- Experience in statistical data analysis, ideally with script-based software (e.g., R or Python) (advantageous)
