Job Summary
This role is for an Engineer or Natural Scientist to join the Prevention department of the Unfallkasse Hessen (UKH), a public body responsible for statutory accident insurance in Hesse. The professional will serve as a key contact, advising member organizations (municipal/state companies, authorities, and educational institutions) on all matters concerning occupational safety and health. Day-to-day tasks include investigating the causes of occupational diseases, accidents, and health hazards, ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations, and developing and leading seminars and conferences for operational managers. The position involves initiating model projects to enhance workplace safety, preparing technical information for UKH media, and contributing to the development of prevention-specific software. A unique feature is the mandatory two-year training program to qualify as an Inspector (§ 18 SGB VII), which includes specialized modules in Dresden and St. Augustin, making it an excellent opportunity for career development in public service occupational safety.
Required Skills
Education
Master's or Diploma degree in Natural Sciences or Engineering (specializations in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Safety Engineering, or related fields) or comparable qualifications; or existing qualification as an Inspector according to § 18 SGB VII.
Experience
- Professional experience in the studied field (minimum two years required for non-qualified applicants)
- Experience in planning, steering, and evaluating projects
- Knowledge of the roles of internal and external actors in occupational safety and health
