Job Summary

This role seeks a highly motivated Research Associate, either a Doctoral Candidate or a Post-Doc, to join the Electronic Components Chair at the University of Wuppertal. The core focus involves the manufacturing and optimization of organic and perovskite-based solar cells, including the optical and electronic characterization of source materials. A key responsibility will be the automated data generation necessary for training neural networks and implementing process automation using machine learning/Artificial Intelligence. The successful candidate will collaborate closely within a project team, develop an individual research profile, and cooperate with both AI development partners and industrial partners. This position requires a strong background in semiconductor electronics and technology, practical lab experience, and excellent proficiency in German (C1 minimum) and English, offering a unique opportunity to advance scientific qualifications in a cutting-edge field.

Required Skills

Education

Completed University Degree (Master, Diploma, or Doctorate) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or similar

Experience

  • Experience with laboratory work and measurement technology
  • Professional experience in semiconductor electronics and semiconductor technology
  • Experience with thin-film technology (ideally)
  • Experience with process automation (ideally)
  • Experience with data generation for machine learning (ideally)
