Job Summary

The Bavarian State Office for Statistics is seeking an Officer to manage and advance the methodology of the regional National Accounts (VGR) and Employment Statistics (ETR). This role is crucial for providing quantitative insights into macroeconomic activity across Germany's regions, districts, and counties, supporting political, economic, and scientific decision-making. Day-to-day responsibilities include the methodological refinement of aggregate calculations, particularly the estimation of Gross Value Added and Gross Domestic Product, and implementing conceptual changes arising from EU-wide revisions. The successful candidate will represent the State Office in national working groups, prepare technical articles and press releases, and optimize internal processes, notably transitioning calculation processes from Excel to R. Key qualifications include a Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, expertise in econometric methods, and strong proficiency in a programming language, preferably R. This is a full-time, fixed-term contract until December 31, 2027, offering flexible working hours and the opportunity for remote work.
