Job Summary

This role involves joining the IBM Consulting Client Innovation Center to design and implement AI and Data Science applications specifically tailored for the Public Sector. The Data Scientist will be responsible for leveraging complex datasets and modern Machine Learning techniques to gain insights and optimize operational processes for public organizations. Key daily tasks include developing robust, scalable data pipelines for structured and unstructured data, implementing and fine-tuning advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) models, and developing Python applications for data import and automation workflows. The successful candidate will need strong programming skills in Python, experience with data libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn), and a solid understanding of MLOps and DevOps principles to ensure efficient model deployment and monitoring. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively in an agile, interdisciplinary environment, translating technical requirements into impactful solutions while ensuring compliance with public sector data governance and security guidelines.

Required Skills

Education

Completed degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field (Bachelor's Degree preferred)

Experience

  • Professional experience in building and maintaining scalable data pipelines
  • Practical experience with language models and NLP frameworks (e.g., Transformers, spaCy)
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and automation in data workflows
  • Experience with deploying AI models in production operations (Preferred)
