Job Summary
This role is for an experienced (Senior) R&D Scientist specializing in Upstream Processing (USP) development for biopharmaceutical active ingredients and vaccines. Based in Berlin, the scientist will be instrumental in developing robust CHO Fed-Batch processes using small-scale bioreactor systems (15 mL to 1 L) and scaling them up to laboratory (10-50 L) and eventually GMP production (up to 1000 L) scales. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating process development projects, independently developing cell culture processes, summarizing and presenting results in English, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams (PCLD, DSP, Analytics, Production). The ideal candidate must possess extensive practical experience in bioreactor process development, CHO cell culture, and DoE methods, contributing actively to innovative process strategies within a growing, international biotech company focused on advancing medical therapies.
Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree (Master/Diploma or PhD) in Biotechnology or related fields
Experience
- 5 years of industry experience in biotechnology or related fields (with Master/Diploma degree)
- 3 years of industry experience in biotechnology or related fields (with PhD degree)
- Extensive practical experience in bioreactor process development
- Experience in CHO cell culture, Fed-Batch, and Perfusion processes
- Practical experience with DoE methods
- Experience with Late-Stage Process Development and Process Characterization (highly desirable)
