Job Summary

This Postdoctoral Researcher role, based at the University Hospital Cologne, focuses on investigating the molecular and cellular mechanisms of neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Alzheimer's disease and related tauopathies. The successful candidate will be responsible for studying axonal targeting, Tau mislocalization, and mitochondrial dysfunction, while developing and applying iPSC-derived neuronal models for rare hereditary disorders. Key tasks include exploring gene therapy strategies using viral vectors, performing in vivo studies with rodent models for AAV-based gene delivery, and assessing functional outcomes in CNS tissues. Applicants must hold a PhD in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, or a related field, possess strong experience in neuronal cell culture, advanced imaging, and molecular techniques, and demonstrate excellent scientific writing and collaborative skills. Experience

  • Strong experience in at least two of the following: neuronal cell culture, imaging, molecular cloning, iPSC-based modeling, or transcriptomics/proteomics
  • Hands-on experience with rodent handling, injections, and animal experimentation (FELASA certification or equivalent is a plus)
  • Prior experience with neurodegenerative disease models, CRISPR/Cas9, or viral gene delivery is a strong advantage
  • Professional experience working independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
