Job Summary

The Technical University of Mannheim is seeking a Biological Technical Assistant or equivalent to join the Faculty of Biotechnology on a permanent, part-time basis (50%, 19.75 hours/week). This role is crucial for supporting academic and research activities, focusing primarily on laboratory operations. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and assisting with practical experiments for both beginner and advanced students, offering technical support to students working on theses, and aiding doctoral candidates with their research projects. Key responsibilities also involve managing inventory, ordering consumables, and maintaining laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate must have a completed BTA or comparable laboratory technician qualification with a strong academic record (grade 2.0 or better) and proven experience in microbiology, molecular biology/genetic engineering, and/or biochemistry. Excellent German and English language skills are essential, along with strong teamwork and social competencies for interacting with students and researchers.
