Job Summary

This is an exciting, permanent opportunity within the Department for Digitization, Organization, and IT (DO.IT) for the City of Stuttgart, focusing on critical IT infrastructure. The successful candidate will act as a Process Owner for IT Service Management processes within the Windows Server environment, leading operational and infrastructure projects. Core responsibilities include designing, defining, and implementing city-wide standards for Windows Server operating systems, contributing to server virtualization concepts, and ensuring automated provisioning, packaging, and maintenance of Windows Server systems (including Windows 2022/2025) on virtual and physical platforms. The role is central to maintaining IT security by implementing system hardening measures in the Windows Server and Active Directory environments, alongside routine administration of server systems, centralized file storage, user management, and data backup/recovery. Ideal candidates possess a degree in Informatics or IT, or equivalent vocational training (e.g., as an IT Specialist), coupled with significant professional experience in Windows Server administration and virtualization.

Required Skills

Education

Completed degree in Informatics, Information Technology, or comparable field, OR completed IT vocational training (e.g., IT Specialist/Fachinformatiker) or technical training with equivalent long-term professional experience.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in Informatics or related field (required for degree holders)
  • Long-term relevant professional experience in IT (required for vocational training holders)
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience in administering Windows Server systems
  • Practical experience with virtualization techniques
  • Experience in IT security implementation
