Job Summary
This role as a Biological-Technical Assistant at the Institute for Microbial Interactions in Düsseldorf involves supporting cutting-edge research focused on phage-host interactions and microbial communities. Daily responsibilities include organizing and coordinating laboratory operations, executing advanced molecular biology techniques such as cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, and Gibson Assembly, and conducting experiments in phage biology. The assistant will also apply modern OMICS techniques, including Next-Generation Sequencing (Illumina MiSeq), and manage laboratory consumables and equipment. Key requirements include a BTA qualification or a Bachelor's degree in Biology/Biochemistry, demonstrated experience with standard molecular biology methods (PCR, Western blot, various extractions), and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The position offers a stable, full-time opportunity to contribute significantly to high-impact academic research and mentor students.

Completed training as a Biological-Technical Assistant (BTA) OR Bachelor's degree in Biology or Biochemistry
Experience
- Professional experience with standard molecular biological methods (e.g., DNA, RNA, and protein extractions)
- Experience with techniques such as SDS-PAGE, Western blot, PCR, various cloning techniques, plasmid preparations, and restriction digestion
- Experience with the sterile handling of microorganisms
- Experience in organization and coordination of daily lab routine
