Job Summary
This leadership role involves managing the 'Development and Operation of IT for IMIS Measurement Networks' section within the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS). The successful candidate will lead a team of dedicated IT specialists, focusing on the conceptual and technical modernization of the IT systems for the Gamma Dose Rate (ODL) measurement network, ensuring high availability and redundancy across six locations. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing secure data transmission methods, creating tools and concepts for the technical advancement of IMIS measurement networks, and ensuring 24/7 reliability for the Federal Radiological Situation Center (RLZ). The position requires a strong background in scientific-technical disciplines, proficiency in modern software development techniques, and experience with Linux operating concepts, database management, and potentially AI support, all while adhering to principles of digital sustainability and sovereignty.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (Diplom or Master) in a scientific-technical discipline such as Informatics, Physics, Mathematics, Geoinformatics, or comparable
Experience
- Experience in realizing software projects up to commissioning
- Experience in programming with SQL, Bash, C, and at least one higher programming language
- Knowledge of deploy chains and different operating concepts under Linux
- Ideally, experience with Open-Data and Open-Access strategies
- Ideally, experience in personnel leadership
- Advantageous: Knowledge of radiation or emergency protection, especially expertise according to § 47 StrlSchV (Radiation Protection Officer)
- Advantageous: Experience in collecting and processing environmental measurement data
