Job Summary

This is a challenging opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer to join the Digital Analytics Service Unit, operating on a four-year, fixed-term freelance contract based in Bonn or Berlin. The role is pivotal in supporting data-driven decision-making across an international media organization by managing the Data Warehouse which integrates usage data from various platforms, social media, and partner networks. Key responsibilities include designing and developing robust ELT pipelines to ensure complex datasets are accessible for analysis and dashboards, rigorously maintaining data quality through unit and data testing, and actively shaping the long-term technical strategy. The ideal candidate holds a completed STEM degree and brings at least five years of practical experience in Data Engineering or Software Development, coupled with strong proficiency in SQL (specifically PostgreSQL), Python, Git, and DevOps tools. Success in this role requires an independent, proactive approach and the ability to effectively collaborate with both technical teams (Data Analysts, Data Scientists) and non-technical stakeholders (Journalists) in an agile environment where English is the primary team language.
