Job Summary

This role, based in Chemnitz, involves critical environmental monitoring for the State Operational Company for Environment and Agriculture (BfUL). The technician will be primarily responsible for conducting water and sediment sampling in surface waters (standing and flowing waters) according to DIN standards and SOPs. Key daily tasks include taking samples, determining and logging field parameters, performing computer-aided documentation within the Laboratory Information and Management System (LIMS), and conducting maintenance and calibration on physico-chemical measuring devices. The position requires a technical background, proficiency in MS Office, and extensive driving experience, including the ability to operate all-wheel-drive vehicles in off-road settings. This is a crucial role supporting environmental analytics and water quality monitoring, offering flexible, seasonally adjusted working hours (full-time during peak season, part-time off-season) within a dedicated public sector team.

Education

Successfully completed vocational or technical training in a relevant or comparable field (e.g., Environmental Technology, Measurement Technology)

Experience

  • Professional experience in methods, procedures, and instruments for sampling surface water and sediments (advantageous)
  • Experience handling Laboratory Information and Management Software/Databases (e.g., LIMS) (advantageous)
  • Several years of driving experience (Class B license required)
  • Off-road driving experience with all-wheel-drive vehicles (e.g., small vans up to 3.5 tons) (advantageous)
