Job Summary
This role seeks a motivated Student Assistant to provide essential Python and data analysis support for biomedical research within the Department of Gastroenterology at UK Aachen. The successful candidate will focus on investigating how proteomics and metabolomics changes relate to metabolic liver disease, combining computational techniques with clinical data. Day-to-day tasks involve writing robust Python scripts for data integration, network construction, and analysis, specifically utilizing graph-theoretical methods like NetworkX. The assistant will also automate tasks, create visualizations (heatmaps, network plots), document workflows for reproducible research, and run simple simulations. This position is ideal for a Bachelor’s or Master’s student in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or a related field, offering hands-on experience in cutting-edge computational biology within an interdisciplinary research consortium. Fluency in English and strong Python skills (NumPy, Pandas, NetworkX) are key requirements.
