Job Summary
This Senior Expert role focuses on the planning, operation, and continuous development of complex GeoInformation Systems (GIS) and Meteorological and Oceanographic (METOC) systems for the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). The successful candidate will join a new Engineering Team responsible for managing and modernizing one of Germany's largest and most complex IT infrastructures, specifically supporting the GeoInformation Service of the Bundeswehr (GeoInfoDBw). Key responsibilities include ensuring operational stability, implementing IT security and data protection standards, managing system upgrades (based on ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise), and automating administrative processes. The role requires a strong background in IT operations, experience with large-scale system landscapes (including Kubernetes, Linux, AIX, Windows), and expertise in IT Service Management (ITIL). This position is ideal for a dedicated IT specialist committed to national security and digital transformation, offering the chance to contribute significantly to the Bundeswehr's operational readiness.

Education
Relevant University degree or Vocational IT training (e.g., IT Specialist)
Experience
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the operation of extensive IT systems
- Experience participating in complex IT projects
- Experience in the operation of GIS systems (ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise) including associated database environments (desirable)
- Experience in the operation of METOC systems (desirable)
- Expertise in automating administrative and operational tasks
- Practical experience in the implementation, control, operation, and support of large system landscapes on a technical level
