Job Summary

This role involves providing technical support for connecting fire and rescue service control centers to the state-wide digital radio network (BOS Digital Radio) in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Technical Officer will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of central and decentralized system components, including installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Key responsibilities include performing error analysis, coordinating change and release measures with the manufacturer, and providing technical consultation to non-police control center users. Candidates must possess a degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., communications technology, electrical engineering, or IT) along with significant professional experience in areas such as digital trunked radio, mobile communications, or IT infrastructure. This is a critical, permanent position within the public service, requiring high reliability and a willingness to undergo an enhanced security clearance.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent university degree in Communications Technology, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, (Technical) Informatics, or a comparable technical field, OR a suitable technical vocational qualification.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in an engineering capacity within Digital Trunked Radio, Mobile Communications, TK Networks, or IT Server/Client Infrastructures (if holding a university degree)
  • Minimum 6 years of professional experience in an engineering capacity within Digital Trunked Radio, Mobile Communications, TK Networks, or IT Server/Client Infrastructures (if holding a technical vocational qualification)
  • Professional experience in independent and self-responsible action
  • Professional experience demonstrating strong communication skills
