Job Summary

This role involves supporting cutting-edge research in molecular infection biology, RNA biology, and microbiology within the international research group of Prof. Dr. Jörg Vogel at the Julius-Maximilians-University. The successful candidate will primarily execute laboratory tasks using established methods from molecular biology, microbiology, and/or cell biology, working largely independently after an initial training period. The research focuses on areas like programmable antibiotics and infection biology, providing a stimulating and innovative environment. Key qualifications include a completed technical assistant or biological laboratory technician degree and fluent English proficiency, both written and spoken. Experience in cell culture, organoid culture, or working with anaerobic microorganisms or bacteriophages is highly desirable. This full-time, initially fixed-term position offers diverse and responsible tasks within an engaged team on the Würzburg Medical Campus.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Technical Assistant, Biological Laboratory Technician, or comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience with general molecular biology, microbiology, and/or cell biology methods
  • Experience with cell culture and organoid culture (Desirable)
  • Experience handling anaerobic microorganisms or bacteriophages (Desirable)
  • Ability to work independently after initial training
