Job Summary

The Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA) is seeking two highly motivated Doctoral Candidates to join their Institute for Applied Research (IAF). In this role, you will focus on the 'Digital Material Twin for Resource-efficient Tailored Microstructures' project. Your daily tasks will involve modeling and characterizing defect structures in materials, identifying fundamental mechanisms in various microstructures, and applying multi-scale modeling and physics-informed machine learning for materials. You will also analyze microstructure properties like grain size, grain boundaries, and material composition as influencing factors on material laws, and combine experimental and simulation data using data-driven approaches. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in engineering or materials science, a passion for scientific research, and excellent teamwork skills, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in a supportive academic environment.

Master's degree in Engineering Sciences, Materials Sciences, (Techno-) Mathematics, Physics, or related fields
