Job Summary

This role involves supporting cutting-edge agricultural research at the unique Erosion and Runoff Laboratory (EARL) in Ruhstorf a. d. Rott, focusing on sustainable farming systems and environmental emissions. The Technical Officer will be responsible for the planning, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical, measurement, and experimental equipment on the site. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring and troubleshooting technical systems, participating in data collection via drone flights and specialized measurement techniques, and acting as the primary technical contact for research groups and service providers. The ideal candidate holds a technical qualification in fields like electrical installation or mechatronics, possesses experience with specialized outdoor electronics and IoT-related sensor technology, and has basic software programming skills. This position offers an engaging opportunity to work with modern technology in an interdisciplinary team addressing critical research questions in agriculture and environmental science.

Required Skills

Education

Technician qualification or comparable qualification/training (e.g., Electrical Installation, Industrial Electronics, Mechatronics, or IT System Electronics). Proof of recognition for foreign qualifications in Germany is required.

Experience

  • Professional experience in planning, implementing, documenting, and controlling installation work
  • Experience with specialized electronics and measurement technology
  • Experience with installing measurement technology outdoors
  • Experience with drones (advantageous)

Additional

  • Valid Class B driving license required (BE and T desirable). High willingness to work flexible hours in case of technical failures. Position is initially limited until October 31, 2027.
