Job Summary

The Medical Faculty of Kiel University is offering 8 PhD positions within the DFG-funded Research Training Group "Regulation of Membrane Proteins" (RTG-ReMPro), starting October 1, 2025. This interdisciplinary program focuses on understanding how posttranslational modifications influence membrane protein plasticity and their role in cell regulation, specialized tissues, and body homeostasis, with a strong emphasis on medical relevance. Successful candidates will engage in cutting-edge research using modern methods like animal models, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, electrophysiology, histology, multi-omics, and CRISPR/Cas9. The program offers intensive mentorship, a supportive interactive laboratory atmosphere, and professional development through soft skill courses, international meetings, and regular progress reports. This is an exciting opportunity for highly motivated individuals to contribute to a deeper understanding of membrane protein dysregulation and its pathological implications.
