Job Summary
This role involves supporting the global operations of a world leader in sustainable growing media by managing and analyzing spatial data. The GIS Specialist will be responsible for the collection, maintenance, and preparation of data within Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including creating detailed thematic maps and operational plans. A key part of the job involves conducting specialized area analyses, particularly for unique projects like renaturation efforts. Furthermore, the specialist will execute and evaluate drone flights and GPS-GNSS surveys and perform independent data collection in the field. The role also requires providing expert technical support to European subsidiaries regarding area-related inquiries. Candidates should possess a degree in Geoinformatics, Geodesy, Landscape Ecology, or related fields, or relevant vocational training in Geotechnics or Surveying Technology. Proficiency with major GIS software, specifically QGIS or ArcGIS, and good written and spoken English skills are essential for success in this innovative and growth-focused company.
Required Skills
Education
Degree in Geoinformatics, Geodesy, Landscape Ecology, or Landscape Planning; OR completed vocational training in Geotechnics or Surveying Technology.
Experience
- Professional experience in Geoinformatics, Geodesy, Landscape Ecology, or a comparable field.
- Experience in data collection, maintenance, and preparation within Geographic Information Systems.
- Experience in conducting and evaluating drone flights and GPS-GNSS measurements.
- Experience providing technical support on area-related issues.
