Job Summary

As the Chemical Reactivity Hazard Analysis Leader, you will spearhead a vital global program within the Life Science Process Safety Center of Excellence. Your primary mission involves developing standardized methodologies, creating comprehensive training programs on chemical hazard evaluation principles, and acting as the definitive subject matter expert for the organization. Day-to-day tasks include providing strategic direction to business leadership, participating in incident investigations, and leading the Chemical Reactivity and Hazard Evaluation Community of Practice. A key focus is building external vendor relationships and ensuring the safe handling of hazardous materials from laboratory scale through commercial production. Candidates must possess a PhD or extensive professional experience (8+ years total) in Chemistry, coupled with specific expertise in implementing chemical reactivity testing and utilizing specialized equipment like DSC, ARC, and RSD. This role is crucial for enhancing safety practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and championing a global culture of continuous improvement through scientific rigor.

Experience

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in Chemistry (required if no PhD)
  • 3+ years of experience with responsibility for implementing chemical reactivity testing and program development
  • Professional experience working with DSC, ARC, RSD, Automated Lab Reactor, and Physical material testing
  • Professional experience with process development and technical transfer from laboratory to commercial scale
  • Professional experience using process safety information in experiment and process design
  • Demonstrated history of delivering technical and awareness training on chemical reactivity hazard related topics
