Job Summary

This permanent, full-time position in Dresden seeks an experienced Database Administrator to join Department 116 (IuK) of the State Office for Taxes and Finances. The core responsibilities include the planning, administration, and management of MS-SQL and Oracle databases, ensuring proper licensing, and providing technical support for specialized applications. A significant part of the role involves contributing to the development of robust database concepts, including hardware, redundancy solutions, and backup strategies, while adhering to current technologies and security protocols. The administrator will also be responsible for documentation, participating in IT projects, and consulting with both internal departments and external firms. Candidates must possess at least five years of professional, Germany-acquired experience in complex server environments and demonstrate fluent German language proficiency (C1 level) to handle the critical nature of public sector finance systems.

Required Skills

Education

Assigned to the higher civil service group (Laufbahngruppe 2, first entry level). A university degree (FH, Uni, BA) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Administrative Informatics, or equivalent fields is advantageous.

Experience

  • At least five years of professional experience acquired in Germany in the operation and administration of databases in a complex server environment (e.g., cluster technology)
  • Extensive and applied knowledge in the administration and management of current versions of MS-SQL and Oracle databases
  • In-depth knowledge of database design and architecture

Additional

  • Must possess a residence permit allowing the corresponding activity or a settlement permit. Foreign educational qualifications require German translation and proof of recognition/equivalence in Germany (ZAB). Minimum work week of 30 hours if applying for part-time.
