Job Summary

The City of Moers is seeking a dedicated Environmental Engineer to join the Department of Urban and Environmental Planning and Building Control. This crucial role involves initiating, supporting, and implementing environmental and climate-relevant processes and projects across the city. Day-to-day responsibilities include commissioning and evaluating expert reports, particularly those focused on natural science soil assessments, and drafting environmental statements for planning and permitting procedures (e.g., building permits and development plans). The successful candidate will also be responsible for translating new environmental norms from EU, federal, and state legislation into municipal administrative action and leading the development of city-wide sustainability concepts (e.g., environmental master plans, noise action planning). Key qualifications include a degree in Geo- or Environmental Sciences or equivalent engineering/natural science studies, coupled with professional experience in the field. This position offers a crisis-proof, permanent full-time (or part-time) role within a modern, service-oriented municipal administration, providing flexible working hours and opportunities for telework.
