Hochschule Emden/Leer
Job Summary
This role involves working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences, focusing on the simulation and analysis of microbiological processes within municipal wastewater treatment plants. The successful candidate will be integral to the interdisciplinary "CLEAN" project (Carbon Neutral Wastewater Treatment Plant). Day-to-day tasks include analyzing and simulating microbial reactions, experimentally investigating their dependence on physicochemical factors, and characterizing bacterial populations using classical microbiological and molecular biological methods, including Illumina MiSeq sequencing. The position requires a completed doctorate in Microbiology or a related field, proven experience in process simulation (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink), and familiarity with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques, demonstrated through publications. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until October 2027, offering self-directed work within a supportive, interdisciplinary team environment.
