Job Summary

This Research Scientist role, focusing on Biology and Life Sciences, offers a challenging opportunity within a dedicated team at the Institute for Clinical Transfusion Medicine and Immunogenetics in Ulm. The core responsibilities involve advancing modern diagnostics by biologically evaluating genetic variants using Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) panels. A key focus is the translation and implementation of Third-Generation Sequencing (TGS) technology for analyzing blood group genes and microbial pathogens, including performing De novo assemblies and resistance gene analysis. Candidates will also be responsible for evaluating, implementing, and validating new analytical software solutions for NGS/TGS, collaborating closely with bioinformaticians and laboratory staff, and supporting quality management processes. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field and possesses strong molecular genetic expertise, including experience with clinical variant classification and reporting. Excellent German language skills (C1 minimum) are required for this stable, high-tech position.
