Job Summary

This Doctoral Researcher position at the Institute for Microsystems Technology (IMTEK), University of Freiburg, focuses on pioneering microfluidic technologies for next-generation diagnostic tools, specifically automated sample preparation for nanopore analysis. The successful candidate will design and realize sophisticated microfluidic systems, integrating physical and chemical pretreatment modules (like filtration, lysis, and purification) into Lab-on-a-Chip structures. Day-to-day tasks include building and characterizing fluidic test platforms for precise control, conducting experimental investigations into flow dynamics and molecular capture, and contributing to automation concepts involving sensor integration and embedded electronics. This role demands collaboration across engineering, physics, and life sciences teams, culminating in the documentation and publication of research findings in international forums. Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Physics, Microsystems Technology, or a related field, coupled with a strong interest in molecular analytics and practical experience in prototype testing. This is an opportunity to engage in high-impact, interdisciplinary research, translating scientific concepts into practical solutions.
