Job Summary

This role involves leading the Investigations and Enforcement team within the Sanctions sector of SECO's Directorate for External Economic Affairs. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex administrative criminal proceedings related to financial sanctions violations, ensuring rigorous quality assurance throughout the process. Key daily activities include conducting complex administrative procedures concerning the freezing of assets and economic resources, performing controls and investigations to ensure compliance with sanctions, and maintaining regular information exchange with Swiss and foreign authorities for mutual legal and administrative assistance. This position requires a Master's degree in Law, preferably a lawyer's license, and several years of experience managing administrative and administrative criminal proceedings, ideally coupled with team leadership experience. It offers the unique opportunity to work at the core of Swiss economic policy, contributing directly to the successful implementation of international coercive measures mandated by the UN and major trading partners, operating in a solutions-oriented, determined, and highly international environment.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in Law, and preferably a lawyer's license (Bar qualification)

Experience

  • Several years of experience in managing administrative procedures and administrative criminal proceedings
  • Ideally, experience in leading teams

Additional

  • Requires very good knowledge (oral and written) of two official languages, plus very good knowledge of English due to international contacts. Position is based in Bern, Switzerland, working 80-100% (jobsharing possible). Requires structured, results-oriented working method and high capacity for networked thinking.
