Job Summary

The City of Friedrichshafen is seeking a Data Protection Coordinator to ensure the lawful, transparent, and secure processing of extensive personal data for its 62,000 residents and 1,600 employees. This role is central to maintaining citizen trust in the digital administration. Key responsibilities include acting as the primary contact for data protection inquiries, supporting the external Data Protection Officer, and managing data protection registers and documentation. The coordinator will handle data subject requests, process data breaches, and report incidents to supervisory authorities. A critical component of the job involves reviewing new projects, products, and internal instructions for compliance with data protection regulations, particularly the EU GDPR, and implementing appropriate technical and organizational measures (TOMs). Candidates should have a background in public administration or law, or the willingness to obtain the necessary professional qualifications. Required Skills

Education

Completed degree in higher non-technical administrative service (e.g., Diploma in Public Administration (FH) or Public Management (B.A.)), or completed qualification as Administrative Specialist, or completed degree in Law, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in data protection matters
  • Knowledge of data protection law, especially EU-DSGVO
  • Knowledge of Information Security and IT fundamentals (or willingness to acquire)
