Job Summary
The Max Planck Computing and Data Facility (MPCDF) is seeking skilled Network Engineers to join their team in Garching near Munich, managing the critical network infrastructure supporting massive supercomputers and petabyte-scale storage systems. In this role, you will be responsible for the secure and stable operation and development of the core network, including Layer 2/3 devices, routers, switches, redundant firewalls, VPN gateways, and DNS services. Daily tasks involve proactive monitoring, design evolution, hardware expansion, and ensuring high performance and security. Key requirements include a B.Sc. in Computer Science (or equivalent), several years of professional experience, and proficiency in IPv4/IPv6 and routing protocols like OSPF and BGP. Candidates must also possess strong firewall management skills, advanced experience automating network tasks, and familiarity with Linux and scripting. This position offers the chance to work in an inspiring, international atmosphere on a crisis-proof job, initially limited to two years with the option for a permanent contract.
