Job Summary

This full-time, permanent position starting February 1, 2026, involves supporting the Professorship of Physiology in Veterinary Medicine at the Justus Liebig University Giessen. The Technical Assistant will be crucial in advancing research in neuroscience and psychoneuroimmunology. Day-to-day tasks include operating and monitoring complex biophysical measurement equipment, conducting cell biological studies on primary cultures and cell lines (mouse/rat neurons and glial cells), and participating in in-vivo studies tracking parameters like body temperature, heart rate variability (HRV), and activity using telemetric methods. The role also requires analyzing signal transduction induced by inflammatory mediators, performing molecular and protein biochemical analyses (including gene and protein expression), and assisting with laboratory management, course preparation, and training new staff and doctoral candidates. Candidates must possess a relevant professional qualification (BTA, CTA, MTA, or equivalent) and be proficient in molecular biology, biochemistry, and potentially cell culture or in-vivo animal models, making this an excellent role for a detail-oriented professional seeking a stable position in academic research.
