Job Summary

The Justus Liebig University Giessen is seeking a part-time (50%) Research Associate to support the Professorship for Food Sciences, focusing on instrumental or food analytics. This role offers the opportunity for personal scientific qualification, such as pursuing a PhD or Habilitation, alongside scientific services, research, and teaching duties. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and implementing sustainable analytical methods and systems, such as high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) coupled with high-performance column chromatography (HPLC), bioassays, and high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS). These techniques will be used to analyze active substances, contaminants, and residues in diverse samples including food, cosmetics, consumer goods, and environmental specimens. Candidates must hold a completed scientific university degree (MSc or equivalent) in Natural Sciences or Engineering, possess strong practical chemical-analytical skills, and have experience in publishing scientific research results. This position provides a varied role with flexible working hours and the chance to shape effective analytics for future challenges.
