Job Summary

This role seeks a dedicated Metallography Technician to join the Chair of Metallic Materials at the University of Bayreuth. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the daily operations of the metallography lab, managing critical processes such as cutting, grinding, polishing, light microscopy, and ensuring compliance with hazardous material regulations. Key daily tasks include preparing complex metallographic samples, conducting and evaluating hardness and tensile tests, and analyzing damage cases. Furthermore, you will be crucial in maintaining, servicing, and optimizing existing metallography equipment, assisting with the commissioning of new facilities, and instructing students in laboratory procedures. This position requires a completed vocational qualification in metallography, strong technical understanding, self-reliance, and excellent teamwork skills, offering a secure public sector environment, modern lab facilities, and opportunities to contribute to both fundamental and applied research projects within an international and interdisciplinary team.

Education

Completed vocational training as a Technical Assistant for Metallography or comparable qualification

Experience
